The Cherry Orchard

**STORY** At the turn of the 20th century in Russia, a noblewoman returns home to her family estate after a half decade escapade owing to the troubling memories of her son's death. She arrives home to find a full bloomed cherry blossom; the only plus sign in an estate plagued by poor finances and ruins. Along with her brother, she embarks on a struggle of retention of simplicity amidst a cloud of social and economic transition. Regarded as one of the greatest plays of the modern era, this story turns tragic as well as funny. This latest adaptation gives a breath of fresh air to the monumental tale. **CRITICS REVIEWS** "Underneath the dillydallying in the final scene — the hunt for lost galoshes, the worry over train times — are the terror and giddy excitement that accompany change and the knowledge of how powerless we are to prevent it" -- Alexis Soloski, **NEW YORK TIMES** **CAST & CREATIVES** **Stars:** Diane Lane, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Joel Gray, Tavi Gevinson **Director:** Simon Godwin **Adapted by:** Stephen Karam
